A BIG weekend beckons for Tyneside maths teacher Chrissy Rouse as he heads into the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 showdown with a 10-point lead.
After a dramatic shortened 2020 season, it’s advantage Mr Rouse as the series heads to its final round at Brands Hatch.
With just one more race remaining, it’s all to play for between Crowe Performance Racing’s Rouse and Honda Racing’s Tom Neave, as the pair tackle Brands Hatch GP circuit for the first time this year.
And while points will make prizes this weekend, Rouse admits he’s taking it all in his stride as he puts all of his focus on the race without thinking too much about the championship.
“I’m just really proud to be in with a shout of the championship as we go into the last round,” he said. “Whatever happens this weekend, I’ve had an absolutely fantastic season.
“I’m just going in with the mindset of getting stuck in and doing the best I can on the day…whatever will be, will be.
“When I look back on what has been a rollercoaster of a year, there was a time when I didn’t even think I’d be racing so to be leading into the final round is something I’m really happy about.
“I love Brands Hatch, it’s a fabulous track and one of my favourites on the calendar and it’s the perfect place to end the season. I’m really looking forward to the weekend, we’ll do what we can and see where we are on Sunday afternoon.”
Rouse’s weekend starts with two free practice sessions on Friday, qualifying on Saturday and one 14-lap race at 2.20pm on Sunday. He heads into the final round on 165 points, 10-points ahead of Tom Neave.
